India is soon going to take a big step in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has recently announced that India's first 'Made in India' chipset will reach markets next year. It would be a landmark move for India in technology advancement. China, America, Japan, and Vietnam have so far been at the forefront of chip manufacturing, but now even India is going to make that leap. As per the minister, the government is working at a fast pace to develop that industry further and is moving towards converting India into a hub for semiconductors.

Ashwini Vaishnav also said that the government no longer wants to be limited to chip manufacturing only, but in the next phase, the focus will also be on material manufacturing, design, and equipment manufacturing. The growth of semiconductor manufacturing in India will not only lead to self-reliance in the field of technology but will also give a tremendous boost to the country's economy.

At the World Economic Forum, the minister said that the semiconductor program is getting a very positive response from the industry. However, he also admitted that advanced chip manufacturing is not easy and will require major changes. But given India's capabilities, it will not be difficult to achieve this goal.

Along with this, he said that the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is constantly increasing and the government is also working rapidly in this field. A concrete strategy is being made to strengthen AI technology in India so that it can play an important role in the technological progress of the country in the times to come.

According to the Global Vibrancy Ranking 2023, the top 10 AI countries include the US, China, UK, India, UAE, France, South Korea, Germany, Japan and Singapore. There is tough competition between the US and China regarding AI. The US is currently at the forefront in terms of research papers, investments, and patents. According to Stanford University, the US AI sector is more developed and effective than China.

Ashwini Vaishnav recently announced that India is developing its own AI model, which will be launched in the next 10 months. India is preparing to compete with the US and China in this field. India can create an affordable AI model like DeepSeek, which will give people a chance to use AI tools at la ow cost. DRDO believes that it is not necessary to spend billions of dollars to create such a large AI model. China has challenged the US by developing DeepSeek at a very low cost and has made it available for free use. India is also working in this direction so that AI technology can be made accessible to the common people.
