The Railway Ministry, in an official statement on Sunday, said it has generated revenue of over Rs 66 lakh by selling scrap in the first 13 days of its special cleanliness campaign 3.0.

This official statement said that after selling the scrap, the ministry also freed up 3,97,619 square feet of space, which can now be used for some other purpose. Special cleanliness campaign 3.0 started on October 1 and will continue till October 31.

According to the statement, the Railways' zonal headquarters, divisional offices, production units, research design and standards organizations, training institutes, and more than 7,000 stations are being covered under the campaign. Railways has set a target of conducting 10,722 cleanliness drives by October 31. Under this campaign, special attention will be given to getting rid of junk in offices and workplaces and a target has been set to free up 3,18,504 square feet of space.

"To achieve these goals, more than 5,297 cleanliness drives have been conducted during the campaign till October 13, 2023. More than 1.02 lakh public complaints were resolved during the campaign," the statement said.

It also said, “During this campaign, special attention was given to scrap disposal in offices and workplaces, which resulted in vacating 3,97,619 square feet of space as well as earning revenue of about Rs 66.83 lakh by selling office scrap.” Is." “More than 51,954 files have been reviewed for the purpose of recording and weeding,” the ministry said.
