US-based electric car maker Tesla on Monday named Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja as the company's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
This decision has been taken after the previous Finance Chief Zachary Kirkhorn stepped down. According to the information, Vaibhav Taneja has taken over Kirkhorn's position in addition to his current role as the chief accounting officer (CAO) of the company.
In a company filing, the automaker described Kirkhorn's 13-year tenure as one of tremendous expansion and growth and said he would continue to serve Tesla until the end of the year. The company further said that Tesla thanks Mr. Kirkhorn for his important contributions.
Zachary Kirkhorn announced his departure as Tesla's CFO on LinkedIn on Monday, saying, "As Tesla announced this morning that I am stepping down from my role as Chief Financial Officer, our Chief Accounting Officer, Vaibhav Taneja took my place."
He wrote, “It has been a special experience to be a part of this company and I am extremely proud of the work we have done together since joining 13 years ago. As I shift my responsibilities to support this transformation, I want to thank the talented, passionate, and hard-working employees at Tesla who have accomplished things that many believed to be impossible. "
Vaibhav Taneja has been serving as the CAO of Tesla since March 2019 and he is also serving as the corporate controller of the company since May 2018. He served as the Assistant Corporate Controller between February 2017 and May 2018. Since March 2016, Taneja has worked at SolarCity Corporation in various finance and accounting roles. Prior to this, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers in India and the US between July 1999 and March 2016.
