Indian social media and microblogging site Koo is going to close now. After a long struggle of about four years, the decision has been taken to shut down Koo. Dailyhunt was about to acquire Koo, but things did not work out. Even after Koo got over $60 million in funding from prominent investors like Tiger Global and Excel, it is being shut down.
Founders of Koo, Aprameya Radhakrishna, and Mayank Bidwatka have shared this information through a post on LinkedIn. Days ago, the company had rolled out its services in Brazil. Koo was available in several other languages apart from Indian too.
Koo founder Aprameya Radhakrishna wrote in a LinkedIn post, "We have explored partnerships with several large internet companies, groups, and media houses, but unfortunately, these talks did not yield the desired results. Most of them did not want to deal with user-generated content and the wild nature of a social media company."
Koo has continuously laid off people, injuring its employee base for the past few months. In April last year, Koo had laid off one-third of its employees, which the company itself confirmed. A spokesperson from the company then said that Koo is laying off 30% of its approximately 260 workers.
