India vs Canada: India once again tightens its grip on Canada, tells 40 diplomatic staff to leave the country

The Indian government has once again tightened its grip on Canada. India has asked Canada to recall more than 20 of its diplomats. New Delhi has asked Ottawa to leave the country by October 10 for about 40 diplomats. However, this has not been confirmed by the Indian Government. But according to the Financial Times report, Canada has 62 diplomats in India and the Indian government has asked 41 of them to return.

After the G20 summit, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told the Parliament about India's involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, after which the Canadian Foreign Minister expelled a senior Indian diplomat from the country. However, Canada has not presented any evidence to support the allegation. In response to this, the Indian Foreign Ministry held a meeting with the High Commissioner of Canada and instructed him to leave the country within five days. In this context, India has once again taken an important step. The Indian government has asked 41 Canadian diplomats to leave the country by October 10.

The Ministry of External Affairs had said in a statement, "India rejects Canada's allegations." We have seen the statement of the Prime Minister of Canada in their Parliament and also rejected the statement of their Foreign Minister. Allegations of Indian government involvement in any act of violence in Canada are absurd and motivated… “We are a democratic polity with a strong commitment to the rule of law,” the statement further said.

It is noteworthy that Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said a few days ago that Canada has been giving shelter to terrorists and people involved in terrorist activities for the last several years. He further said that the Indian government is ready to talk openly on this issue raised by Canada.
