India Secures Top Spot in Sultan of Johor Cup 2023 with 3-1 Victory Over Malaysia

In a spectacular performance, the Indian Colts triumphed over hosts Malaysia with a 3-1 win in the 11th Sultan of Johor Cup 2023. Aditya Lalage (28’), Amandeep Lakra (37’), and Rohit (54’) scored goals, while Suhaimi Irfan Shahmie (13') netted for Malaysia. The victory propels India to the top of Pool B in the tournament.
India sought redemption after their opening game, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Pakistan. They began confidently in the first quarter, with forward Angad Bir Singh leading the charge. However, an alert Malaysian goalkeeper, Rafaizul Mohamad, thwarted India's early attempts. In the 13th minute, hosts Malaysia broke the deadlock with an excellent goal by Suhaimi Irfan Shahmie.
