India-Pakistan Ties: 'Give up hope of good relations with Pakistan', CM Himanta furious over General Munir's statement

The recent comments of Pakistani Army Chief Gen Asim Munir evoked a strong reaction from the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma. The chief minister stated that the time had now arrived for India to accept reality and abandon hope of forging friendly relations with Pakistan. CM Sarma wrote on the social media platform 'X', 'In his recent address, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir clearly said that there is a deep ideological gap between India and Pakistan.'

Quoting General Munir, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he has clearly stated that India and Pakistan are fundamentally different countries, as the religion, customs, traditions, thinking, and ambitions of both countries are different from each other in every aspect. CM Sarma further said, 'This perspective reinforces the two-nation theory, which laid the foundation for the creation of Pakistan in 1947.'

The Chief Minister said, 'Now it is clear that our paths are different. In such a situation, it is our duty to strengthen our nation, maintain our religion, and civilizational values. Only by doing this can we take our country to new heights.'

General Asim Munir, while addressing Pakistanis living abroad, had said that India and Pakistan are two nations. He had said, 'We are not one nation. That is why our ancestors struggled to build this country. Our ancestors and we have sacrificed a lot to build this country. We know how to protect it.'
