Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the inaugural program of the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists in Delhi today. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was also present in this program. PM Modi also addressed the agricultural economists present in this program. He said that after 65 years such a conference is being organized in India, which he is happy to see. PM Modi welcomed all the people present in the program. He said that our traditions regarding agriculture are as ancient as our country.

Welcoming everyone, PM Modi said, I am very happy to see that after 65 years such a conference is being organized in the country. You people have come here from different countries of this world. I welcome you on behalf of 12 crore Indian farmers, 3 crore Indian women farmers, and 3 crore fishermen. Today you are in a country where 55 crore animals live. All of you are welcome to an agricultural and animal-loving country. He further said, "Our traditions and experiences about food and agriculture are as ancient as our country. In India, science is given priority in the agricultural tradition." PM Modi said that the last time India hosted this conference, it was not long since it gained independence. That period was a very challenging period for agriculture and food security in the country. He said, "India is now a food surplus country. It is the largest producer of milk, pulses, and spices in the world. Apart from this, India has also become the second-largest producer of food grains, fruits, vegetables, cotton, sugar and tea. There was a time when India's food security was a matter of concern for the world. Now, India is working towards providing solutions for global food and nutrition security." PM Modi said that India is moving towards achieving the target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol. He further said that India has provided 1,900 new varieties of crops less sensitive to climate change in the last 10 years.

Addressing the program, PM Modi said, "India has a strong ecosystem related to education and research related to agriculture. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research itself has more than 100 research institutes. There are more than 500 colleges in India to study agriculture and related subjects. There are more than 700 Krishi Vigyan Kendras in India which help in delivering new technology to the farmers."

He further said, "The last time the ICAE conference was held in India, it was a challenging time for India's agriculture and food security. India had just gained independence. Today India is a food surplus country. Today India is the largest producer of milk, pulses, and spices. Today India is engaged in providing solutions for global food security and global nutrition security."

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan praised the Prime Minister in this program. He said that under the leadership of PM Modi, India's growth rate in the field of agriculture is at the top in the world. Production should be increased, but India has always been concerned about safe production. India is focusing on organic farming for the human body, the health of the earth, and the soil.
