India imposed anti-dumping duty on four Chinese products, domestic producers will benefit

India has imposed anti-dumping duty on four Chinese products. Aluminum foil, vacuum flask, soft ferrite core, and trichloro isocyanuric acid are the products on which anti-dumping duty has been imposed. It has been done in order to support domestic producers and stop the sale of Chinese products at low prices in the domestic market.

Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Revenue Department, released the notification regarding the levy of anti-dumping duty on Chinese merchandise. As per the notification, anti-dumping duty on the import of vacuum flask, soft ferrite core, and trichloro isocyanuric acid will remain in force for five years. At the same time, anti-dumping duty has been charged on the import of aluminum foil for six months. Anti-dumping duty at US $ 873 per ton has been charged on the foil.

Duty ranging from $ 276 to $ 986 per ton has been imposed on trichloro isocyanuric acid. It is used in water treatment. 35 percent duty has been imposed on soft ferrite cores. It is used in electric vehicles, chargers, and telecom devices. A duty of $ 1732 per ton has been imposed on vacuum-insulated flasks. The DGTR department of the Commerce Ministry had also suggested imposing a duty on these products. Domestic industries were suffering losses due to the import of cheap products from China. In such a situation, anti-dumping duty is imposed on cheap products coming from abroad to protect domestic industries. This is under the system of the World Trade Organization.
