India became the first country in Asia to host WTSA, inaugurated by PM Modi inaugurated

On Tuesday, PM Modi inaugurated the World Telecommunication Standardization Program (WTSA) and said that no country can deal with cyber threats and challenges alone. This was because all the digital applications and tools were beyond the boundaries of any country. So the time is now to set up global frameworks and guidelines for digital technology.

Meanwhile, at the global level, standards need to be set on what should and shouldn't be done for technology, and global institutions have to accord the same in importance. The PM informed the representatives of more than 190 countries present in this program that to deal with cyber threats, we should make such standards that are inclusive, secure, and capable of dealing with every challenge of the future.

These standards should also consider the diversity of different countries. To accomplish this, we must collaborate, and global institutions must step forward and accept responsibility. The digital world, like the civil aviation sector, requires a global standard. WTSA will need to work harder to achieve this goal.

Recounting once again the success story of the Digital Public Infrastructure of India, Modi has said, "We would be very happy to share all our experiences, knowledge about India's Digital Public Infrastructure in the whole world. Digital technology has been made democratic in India." Further, he elaborated, "Our effort should be that in this digital age, no country, no region, no community must be left behind." We have to ensure that our future is morally strong with technology.

Modi said that India incidentally happens to be one of the leading countries in their endeavour with regard to telecom and related technology. India has 120 crore mobile phone users. There are 95 crore internet users. More than 40 percent of world's real-time digital transactions take place in India. India has shown that digital connectivity has become an effective tool for the last mile. Along with WTSA, he has also inaugurated the India Mobile Congress on Monday. On this occasion, apart from Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, chairmen of all the major telecom companies of the country were present.
