The Indian Navy will trial important equipment for Project 75 in Spain by the end of June. Under this project, India will get six state-of-the-art submarines. Spanish firm Navantia has designed the S80 submarine for the Indian Navy. This submarine was inducted into the Spanish Navy in 2023 itself.

Richard Domnes Garcia Baquero, chairman of Spanish shipyard Navantia, said on Monday that the Spanish government and navy are keen on the progress of the P75 (1) project and will support it in every possible way.

The Indian Navy's field trial was scheduled during the last week of June at the Navantia shipyard in Cartagena. He stated that his partner, L&T, is likewise completely prepared for the testing. We will transfer our world-class AIP technology to the Indian Navy. According to Navantia Chairman Baquero, India has the most advanced conventional six-submarine AIP system.

This technology will allow submarines to remain submerged for extended periods of time. L&T and Navantia, along with German ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems and Mazgaon Dockyard Limited, are competing for the Rs 60 thousand billion project. The S80 design provided the Indian Navy with cutting-edge features and technologies.

This includes third-generation BEST AIP (bioethanol stealth technology) and an advanced sensor suite. For this project, L&T and Navantia have signed a partnership agreement in lithium-ion battery technology. Baquero said that in the last few months, Spanish government officials have met Indian officials in this regard. They have also expressed commitment to this project.
