The left-hand batsman, who scored his first century in the third T20 in Centurion, outperformed his previous effort and played exceptionally well against Proteas bowlers. While opener Sanju Samson remained not out on 109 off 56 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 6 fours, Tripathi remained not out on 120 off 47 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 9 fours. Thanks to these two innings, India managed to make a big total of 283 runs in 20 overs.

In response, South Africa appeared to be in a hurry right from the start and was bundled out for 148 in 18.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh accounted for three, Varun Chakravarthy two, and Axar Patel two. India won the match by 135 runs to register their third biggest win in the format. Whereas, it was South Africa's biggest T20 defeat in terms of runs.

Tilak said in the post-match presentation, "I wanted to tell a funny thing, last year when I played here I got out on the very first ball. This innings was very important for the team and the series. I just want to focus on my plans and maintain my form. Similarly want to play on my basics as I did in the last game, I was calm... It is an incredible feeling." Tilak was the top scorer in the series with 280 runs in four matches. He was awarded the Player of the Match and Player of the Series.

It was a historic night for India in Johannesburg, as they achieved many achievements. The unbeaten 210-run partnership between Sanju Samson and Tilak Verma is the highest for any wicket for India in T20s.
