Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the biggest stadium in the world for the sport of cricket with a spectator capacity of about 1.25 lakh. Now a stadium even bigger in size is to be built. The stadium will be built in Amaravati in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Its spectator capacity will be 1.32 lakh. International Cricket Council (ICC) approved the building of the biggest stadium for the sport in Amaravati. The proposal to build a stadium with an approximate budget of Rs 800 crore was made in January by the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA).
According to a report by MyKhel, this cricket stadium will be the center of a 200-acre sports city. The venue is expected to be ready in time to host the 2029 National Games. It will be built with a sustainable design and use solar energy.
Earlier reports claimed that the Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association had requested 60 acres of land from the state government for the project. The construction will be funded locally and assistance will be sought from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The city of Amaravati, which has a population of about 9 lakh, has a very modern infrastructure. There are hundreds of hotels in Amaravati and most importantly, the airport has also been built here, which is going to start soon. For this reason, the ACA has taken an important step to build the largest stadium in Amaravati.
