HP Launches A Program For Used Laptops With India As Its First Market

HP has launched a program for reconditioned laptops in India, aiming to provide affordable computing options to retail customers and businesses.

The program will initially focus on laptops, with plans to expand to other regions in 2024. It will operate on a subscription model, allowing businesses to access the latest technology for 6, 12, or 24 months. The refurbished laptops will be sourced from both enterprise and retail consumers, refurbished to meet HP's quality standards, and sold with warranties.

HP's goal is to achieve 75% circularity for products and packaging by 2030, and this program aligns with their commitment to sustainability. The initiative is a testament to their mission of bringing affordable technology to everyone.

HP’s program for used computers

1. HP has started this program in one market, India, with the intention of expanding to other markets in 2024. The emphasis will initially be on laptops; but, in the near future, the products will be broadened and increased.

2. The US IT giant will run the program using a subscription model, which, according to the business, would provide companies access to the newest technologies for 6, 12, or 24 months.

3. HP will restore the gadgets, but its authorized partner will sell them to other consumers and retail establishments. Additionally, the partner will provide thorough after-sale assistance, including warranty.

4. The initiative is a “testament,” in the words of the Palo Alto, California-based company, to its 2030 target of 75% circularity for goods and packaging.

The refurbishing program is also a result of the company’s earlier trial projects, such the internal redeployment of up to 20,000 devices each year for the workers.
