Honda Cars India has announced the name of its upcoming car today (May 3). The name of this car of the company will be Elevate, which will be unveiled in New Delhi on 6th June.
Honda Car India has shared a post on social media. In this, the 'elevate' badging is visible on this SUV. Apart from this, no glimpse has been shown from the other angle of the car, but the connected LED taillight setup is visible in it.
The price of this SUV can be between 12 to 19 lakh rupees and its sale is expected to start in the month of August. After this, the company will start selling it in the international market. The company's Amaze, Honda City and Honda City Hybrid are currently available in the Indian market.
After 6 years, a completely new model is being launched in India by the Honda brand and the company is calling it the Urban SUV. This will be the company's first SUV in the Indian market, which will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hirider in this segment.
Earlier, the company had released a teaser showing the side portion of the Elevate with LED headlamps and DRLs and LED fog lamps. Earlier in the photo of this car, a glimpse of stylish wheel arches, roof rails and a large grille was seen.
The Honda Elevate has been spotted several times on Indian roads during testing. The car has been designed on the platform of the company's popular sedan 5th Generation Honda City. Its length can be between 4.2 to 4.3 meters. The new Honda SUV will see design elements of the company's CR-V and HR-V sold in the global market.
It will come with a large front grille, flanked by sharp LED daytime running lamps, a long bonnet and LED headlamps. There will be an HR-V-like side profile with an upright stance and tapered roofline. With this, 16-inch SUV multi-spoke alloy wheels can be seen.
The interior of the Honda Elevate SUV is yet to be revealed, but recent spy shots show a large digital display that will act as the central touchscreen for the infotainment system. It is also expected that the driver display in the car will also be digital.
The Elevate SUV is expected to get a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine comes in the new generation Honda City. In the city, this engine generates power of around 120 BHP. Whereas, the power output in the upcoming SUV is expected to be around 110 BHP. Honda is expected to introduce a hybrid engine in its lineup. This engine can be given in the higher variant of Elevate.
The company sold only 5,313 units in India in April 2023, a decline of 32%, compared to 7,874 units sold in the same month last year. Talking about the month-on-month (MOM) growth, the company's sales registered a decline of 20.61% as compared to the 6,692 units sold in March.
