A bridge on National Highway 2 in ethnic violence-hit Kangpokpi district of Manipur was partially damaged in an IED blast early Wednesday. Traffic was disrupted in the area after the IED blast. Police gave information about this.

An official said the blast took place around 12.45 am on the bridge between Saparmina and Kubru Likha areas. He said that no casualties have been reported so far in the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast. Three potholes and cracks were observed on either end of the bridge, the official said.

The bridge that links Dimapur, Nagaland, and Imphal, the capital of Manipur, is closed to heavy vehicle traffic. The police arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion, cordoned off the bridge, and announced that they had started an investigation into the IED blast.
