Gujarat Elections in 2022: The BJP Sets A New Record By Winning More Than 150 Seats

With a victory almost assured in more than 150 seats, the BJP is ready to maintain its administration in the state for a record-breaking seventh consecutive term.

The BJP is poised to form the state's administration for a record-breaking seventh time in a row after breaking previous records in more than 150 seats. The previous record for seats gained by the Congress was 149 in 1985. AAP and the Congress are far behind. The AAP asserts that as a result of their success in the Gujarat elections, they have been recognised as a national party. The 182-member assembly was chosen through elections on December 1 and 5.

Gujarat is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Exit polls had anticipated that the BJP would win by a wide margin. BJP won 99 seats in 2017 while Congress won 77.
