The state government has given another gift to the government employees on the occasion of Diwali. The government has increased the house rent allowance (HRA) of the state employees. In this, now the dearness allowance has been made 10 and 20 percent according to the category of cities. The order in this respect was issued by the Finance Department on October 30.

First, it has revised the order of HRA, based on the category of the cities. The HRA further increased in cases when the dearness allowance exceeded above 50 percent. Whereas earlier it was provided that when the dearness allowance exceeds 50 percent, then accordingly the rent allowance foe category cities Y and Z will be increased by 10 and 20 percent, respectively. Very recently on 24 October, dearness allowance increased from 50 percent to 53 percent.

Starting from 1 November, state employees will get 53 percent dearness allowance benefit. In addition to this, increased HRA will also be given from 1 November. This HRA will be given at 10 and 20 percent as per the rules.

Here in Rajasthan, the salary of government employees has been deposited one day before Diwali. Now, they would be able to celebrate Diwali openly. Basically, the salary of the government employees comes on the 1st of the month. But this time, due to Diwali on 31 October, many employee unions had demanded this time the salary for Diwali should be availed sooner so that they can spend freely on the Diwali festival.

The state government had announced increasing the DA  by three percent as a Diwali gift for the state employees on 24 October. With this, now the DA of state employees will become 53 percent.

In fact, the central government had increased the DA of the central employees by three percent on 16 October. Since then, it was being expected this time DA could increase three percent in the state also. The orders in this regard were issued by the Finance Department on 24 October.

The increased amount of DA shall be available from the month of November. The DA arrear from July to October shall be deposited in the GPF account.
