Google's warning to Gmail users, 250 crore accounts are at risk of hacking
Alert: Hackers are calling users and claiming that their Google account has been hacked. They send users a recovery code and ask them to recover the account by using it. The emails and recovery codes sent by hackers seem completely real, due to which users can easily fall into their trap.
Google has issued a strong warning to Gmail users, stating that 250 crores (2.5 billion) can fall prey to a hacker with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Cybercriminals have been trying to steal sensitive information regarding users in a Google impersonation, portraying them as Google support representatives.
According to a Forbes report, hackers are calling users and claiming that their Google account has been hacked. They send users a recovery code and ask them to recover the account by using it. The emails and recovery codes sent by hackers look completely real, so users can easily fall for them.
If you receive a suspicious call or email, ignore it immediately. If you have accidentally used the recovery code, change your Gmail password immediately. To change the password, go to the Settings of your Android device.
Now tap on the Google option and select your name. Click on Manage your Google Account. Go to the Security tab above. Click on the Password option under How to sign in to your Google account. Enter the new password and tap on Change Password. If you have forgotten your password, tap on Forgot my password and follow the on-screen instructions.
To increase the security of your Gmail account, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). This additional security measure will ensure that even if hackers get your password, they will not be able to access your account.
