Even though the appropriate department already alerts people about the flood, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made this task considerably easier and more accurate. Google has now made its AI-based flood forecast tool available in 100 countries.

Google will cover 100 countries for this feature, and it will provide forecast information about river floods to approximately 700 million people. In addition, the dataset is being provided to researchers and partners for understanding and developing the advantages of the forecast. Google has also developed a new Application Programming Interface (API) so that the data can be accessed smoothly.

With this API, users will have access to the company's hydrological forecast and possible flood conditions in urban areas, including those places where local data is badly limited. It is now possible to allow waiting list access to this AI-based model for partners and researchers from Google since this API has not yet been published.

A new data layer has now been added to the Flood Hub of Google's flood forecasting system, which includes 2,50,000 forecast points using the "Virtual Gauge". Virtual Gauge is a simulation-based prediction system of Google that assesses the possibility of river flooding using various geological and atmospheric factors.
