Google releases a new update in Pixel Watch 3, now the smartwatch becomes a doctor, users upset
Pixel Watch 3: You can take advantage of the 'Loss of Pulse Detection' feature, which monitors the wearer's heartbeat and can contact emergency services in case of any abnormality or complete stoppage of a heartbeat.

Now Google has launched a new feature for Pixel Watch 3 in the US which was previously limited to European markets only. This new feature is a new health-tracking feature. According to reports, users can now take advantage of the 'Loss of Pulse Detection' feature, which monitors the wearer's heartbeat and can contact emergency services in case of any abnormality or complete stoppage of heartbeat.
According to a report by 9to5Google, this feature is coming to Pixel Watch 3 with an update released in April 2025. The update is based on Wear OS 5.1 (based on Android 15) and has a software version of BP1A.250305.019.W7, although the update mostly includes bug fixes, reports suggest that users in the US can now use this health-tracking feature.
According to Google, the feature can call emergency services even when the user is unconscious and his pulse is not detected. It can be activated when the pulse is not detected for various reasons such as cardiac arrest, respiratory or circulatory failure of the lungs, overdose, or poisoning.
In case the pulse is not detected, the Pixel Watch 3 vibrates to query the user for assistance. When the watch fails to detect any movement and/or pulse signal from the user, emergency services are automatically called and an automatic message is sent reporting back to them the user's location and lack of pulse.
But this feature is subject to conditions for its operation such as the Wi-Fi variant must be connected to the phone and within range. The LTE variant requires an active LTE connection in order to use emergency calls.
