Google is laying off employees; Hundreds of workers from various teams

Google, a tech giant, is planning to fire staff members. One hundred individuals who are part of various teams inside the organisation will be let go by the company.

According to a report by news agency Reuters, the company has planned to lay off employees working on assistant, hardware and AR teams. Giving information about this, Google said on Wednesday that hundreds of employees working in different teams will be laid off.

According to information provided by Google, Fitbit co-founders James Park and Eric Friedman are also departing the company as a result of the layoffs.

Cost-cutting measures are the reason behind Google's employee layoffs. Google announced that hundreds of voice assistant employees will be let go. In addition, the corporation is eliminating the positions held by members of the hardware team. The teams working on augmented reality (AR), Pixel, Nest, Fitbit, and Fitbit will be most affected by this layoff.

Google paid $2.1 billion in 2021 to acquire Fitbit, a business that tracks exercise and health. But the company kept releasing new Pixel Watch iterations even after this. This gadget is thought to be a stronger rival to the Fitbit line of products and the Apple Watch.

It is known that Altabet, the parent firm of Google, revealed plans to eliminate 12,000 positions worldwide in January of last year. In addition, as of September of last year, Altabet employed 182,381 people altogether from all over the globe.
