GoFirst airline has announced a further extension of the flight cancellation period till 6th August. The airline made the announcement in a tweet on Thursday. Earlier on May 2, GoFirst canceled its flights and filed for voluntary bankruptcy before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), seeking immediate fulfillment of obligations on behalf of US-based engine maker, Pratt & Whitney. The delay was alleged due to the inability to do so.
Last Friday, the DGCA had given conditional permission to the grounded airline GoFirst to resume its operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had said that GoFirst can resume scheduled flight operations subject to the availability of interim funding and approval of the flight schedule by the regulator.
The regulator had allowed the operation of 15 aircraft and 114 daily flights. The airline has around 4,200 employees, and it reported total revenue from operations of Rs 4,183 crore in the financial year 2021-22.
There were reports that the closure of GoFirst flights had put pressure on airfares, especially on select routes where it was affected.
