Girl student went out to sell blood for mobile: reached the blood bank 30KM away, told her parents dead

In West Bengal, a 17-year-old girl tried to sell her blood to buy a smartphone. She travelled 30 km from her home in the South Dinajpur district to reach the government hospital in Balurghat, where she offered to sell her blood.
On interrogation, the girl gave many absurd reasons, she even said that her parents had died. But on asking more questions, she told that she had ordered a smartphone worth Rs 9,000 and needed money to pay for it, so she had come to sell blood.
The hospital management explained to him that blood cannot be sold like this. After counselling the girl, she was handed over to her parents. As soon as this matter came to the notice of the blood bank staff of the hospital, the hospital management rescued the girl and handed it over to an NGO named Childline India. According to the hospital management, the girl is suffering from depression and needs counselling and therapy.
Kanak Das, the counsellor of Balurghat Hospital, said that a minor girl came to the hospital on Thursday. First, he said that he has to do a blood test. When asked why the blood test was to be done, he gave strange answers. He made an excuse for his studies, talked about the death of the parents, then said that the parents are alive but they do not get along with them.
After listening to him, we called the Childline helpline in the Balurghat district. The people of the organization came and took him to their office. Even then she kept on giving strange reasons. In the end, he told that he had booked the phone online and for that he needed money.
Childline NGO informed the girl's parents about this, then it came to know that they set up a vegetable cart. The girl still had a normal phone. A few days ago it broke down, so he ordered a smartphone from a friend for Rs 9,000. The girl's father said- 'I don't know what happened, but when I came here, I came to know that my daughter wants to buy a mobile by selling her blood.'
NGO member Rita Mahto said- 'Someone must have told the girl that if you sell blood, you will be able to buy a phone. He is also in depression. So we will first present him before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and then decide where he should be sent for the same betterment.
