Ghulam Nabi Azad read songs in praise of Congress: Said - Only Congress can give competition to BJP in Gujarat-Himachal elections
Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday praised the party after quitting its decades-old association with the Congress party. He said that only Congress can challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is a party of Delhi only.
The former Congress leader said that he was not against the secularism policy of the Congress party, but against its weak system. Talking to the media in Srinagar, he said- I still want the Congress to perform well in the Gujarat and Himachal assembly elections. Expressing confidence in the Congress, he said that the party has been taking all the people, whether Hindu, Muslim or farmers, along with them for a long time.
Launching a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, Azad said that the Aam Aadmi Party cannot do anything in these states, they have failed in Punjab and the people of Punjab will not vote for them again. AAP is only a part of UT Delhi. They cannot run Punjab efficiently, only Congress can challenge BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh because they have a joint policy.
On Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's hint at the Center thinking of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, he said she has raised the issue many times and it would be welcome if the central government does so. Ghulam Nabi Azad is on a visit to Doda where he will address several rallies in the coming days.
On August 26, 2022, Azad left the 52-year-old relationship with the Congress party. In October, Azad announced his new political party, the Democratic Azad Party. In his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, he had targeted the party leadership, especially Rahul Gandhi, for the way the party was run in the last nearly nine years. In the five-page letter, Azad had claimed that Sonia Gandhi was only a nominal head and all major decisions were taken by Rahul Gandhi or rather his security guard and PA.
Elections in Gujarat will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will take place on December 8. BJP has won six consecutive assembly elections in Gujarat. Congress is trying to strengthen its campaign through Bharat Jodo Yatra. Talking about AAP, unlike the previous elections, this year the Aam Aadmi Party is also contesting in full force under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, making it a triangular contest.
