Foxconn is the company that assembles iPhones for Apple in India. Now, this company is surrounded by controversies. Ab Origine, married women were reportedly not hired in the company. The company presented a clarification regarding this allegation.

News agency PTI, quoting sources, said that Foxconn has told the government that 25 % of its new employees are married women. The company has taken complete care of its security protocol. Apart from this, it does not discriminate based on gender or religion.

Sources say Foxconn informed the government that there is no such condition in their hiring policy that married women will not be hired. The company said this must have been claimed by those not employed. The company refuted the media reports and said that such reports defame the Indian manufacturing sector.

According to one of the sources, Foxconn clarified that the latest appointments include 25 percent of married women. That would be roughly one-third of the total women workforce at the company.

Currently, it contains about 70 percent of women and 30 percent of men in the Foxconn factory. It is considered to have the largest factory of women employment in the whole country. Around 45,000 workers work in this plant.

After allegations came against Foxconn, the government came into action. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Employment sought a report from the Tamil Nadu Labor Department. The ministry said that according to media reports, Foxconn India is not allowing married women to work in an Apple iPhone plant. A report to the Tamil Nadu Labour Department regarding this issue has to be sent as soon as possible.
