Melbourne Renegades failed to make the playoffs in the Big Bash League 2023–24. Meanwhile, Shaun Marsh has decided to retire from his 23-year-long career.

Shaun Marsh played his last match on 13 January against Melbourne Stars and the team won. During this period, Marsh made his last match special. Marsh played a match-winning inning of 64 runs in 49 balls with 10 fours. The Renegades were helped to defeat the Stars in the Melbourne derby at Docklands Stadium.

This was also Aaron Finch Retired's last T20 match after announcing his retirement earlier this year. During this time, another player of the team, Aaron Finch, also retired from his career. He played his last T20 match.

Speaking after the match, Marsh said, "I love playing for the Renegades, I have met some special people over the last five years and the friendships I have made will last a lifetime. The players who play in this group are very special." And he has been very good to me and a very good teammate and friend."

Our members and fans were very emotional and I am very grateful for their support during this time. In the current season of the Big Bash League, Marsh has scored 181 runs in five matches. Along with this, he has scored 3 half-centuries at an average of 45.25. Marsh scored the most runs in the first season of IPL and became the Orange Cap winner.
