The Indian Space Agency (ISRO) on Friday received the first Simulated Crew Module (SCM) structure assembly for the maiden test flight of its human space mission Gaganyaan. ISRO gave information about this by tweeting.
He informed that today ISRO received the Simulated Crew Module (SCM) structure assembly for the Gaganyaan project. This is the first indigenous SCM, developed through (Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre) VSSC. It is made by Manjeera Machine Builders Pvt.
This module will be used for several missions, such as test vehicle missions. where the crew escape system will be validated with the testing of several subsystems of the crew module. Also, the SCM will be used in test rocket missions to validate the crew escape system and other subsystems.
According to ISRO, the SCM is an Unpressurized Crew Module. It simulates the interface of key systems such as the shape, external mould line, parachute system and pyros of an actual crew mission configuration.
ISRO said that the actual crew module is a pressurized capsule that houses the astronauts during the Gaganyaan mission. At the same time, the space agency is planning to fly a test rocket by the end of this year.
