Mahindra & Mahindra has now unveiled the Thar.e at its FutureScape event in Cape Town after the unveiling of the Global Pik Up. The company says that the Mahindra Thar.e will be developed as an EV as part of the Born Electric range and will not be an electric conversion of the ICE Thar. The five-door version of the Mahindra Thar.E will feature a new Mahindra logo. Come, let's know about it.
The Mahindra Thar.e gets a futuristic design as compared to its current ICE model. The electric SUV gets square LED headlamps with rounded corners and a glossy black straight neck. The steel front bumper of the Thar.e lends a strong look to the EV.
On the sides, the electric Thar looks taller with extra doors and bigger alloy wheels with squared-off wheel arches. Similar to the current generation model, the Mahindra Thar.E gets a spare wheel on the tailgate and square LED tail lamps.
Mahindra says that inside the cabin, the Mahindra Thar.E will have 75 sounds ranging from door opening to different drive modes. All are being developed by Indian composer AR Rahman. Apart from this, there will be a water hose inside the electric SUV, which can completely clean the cabin after off-roading. The company has not revealed more details about the upcoming SUV.
The electric Thar is likely to use a larger battery pack to cater to the off-road characteristics. It could be equipped with two motors to provide 4X4 performance, unlike its current generation model. Apart from this, the torque will also enhance the off-roading capabilities. The company has not made any official announcement regarding this.
Mahindra has confirmed that its upcoming Mahindra Thar.e will be based on its new platform, the INGLO-P1 platform, which will offer increased ground clearance and best off-road capability.
The company has not revealed the launch timeline of Mahindra Thar.E. Thar.E is expected to be launched in late 2024 or early 2025.
