Fire broke out at Eden Gardens Stadium before World Cup 2023, dressing room gutted; Will host 5 matches

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in the dressing room of Kolkata's historic Eden Gardens Stadium late Wednesday night. Due to the fire, all the goods have been burnt to ashes.

According to the report, a preliminary investigation has found that the fire started due to a short circuit. According to the fire department, the fire broke out on Wednesday late at night. At present, the firefighters have brought the fire under control, but it took them several hours during this time. It is being told that the fire started in the false ceiling of the dressing room, where the cricketers' equipment was kept.

Although the damage was not that much, all the belongings of the players present there got burnt. The incident has put the infrastructure at Eden Gardens under question with less than two months left for the upcoming World Cup. The cause of the sudden fire is being investigated. Renovation work is going on in the stadium due to the World Cup 2023.

It may be noted that Eden Gardens will host five matches of the ODI World Cup. One of these five matches is also in the semi-finals. The first match at the Eden Gardens ground will be played between Netherlands and Bangladesh on 28 October, while the second match is between Pakistan and Bangladesh on 31 October. The third match will be between India and South Africa on 5 November. There will be a clash between England and Pakistan here on 11th November. While the second semi-final match of the tournament will be held on the same ground on 16 November.
