Film RRR nominated for Golden Globe Award

The film RRR has received a nomination at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards. This nomination has been given in the category of Best Non-English Film. For this category of the Golden Globe Awards to be held in January 2023, 5 films from around the world will be in the race. Hindi film Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kannada film Kantara and India's official entry to the Oscars Chello Show were also in this race but only RRR got the nomination.
Four other films nominated in this category are All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Argentina 1985 (Argentina), Close (Belgium) and Decision to Leave (South Korea). RRR's boom is all over the world at the moment and this recently released film in Japan has earned a lot. It was also being considered in the Oscar race, although the official entry of the Oscars from India was the Gujarati film, Chello Show. At the same time, RRR has been sent to the Oscars as an independent entry by the makers.
The role of Junior NTR and Sitaram Raju was played by Ramcharan Teja. Alia Bhatt, Shreya Saran and Ajay Devgan were also seen in the film.
RRR, released on 24 March 2022, created many new records of worldwide earnings. The film earned more than 1200 crores worldwide. Out of this, 800 crores was earned in India only. It is the first film in India to earn Rs 1000 crores in a month of its release. The film was released in 5 languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
The Golden Globe Award is one of the most prestigious awards in Hollywood. These are given by the Foreign Press Association of Hollywood. There have also been many controversies over this award. Hollywood star Tom Cruise also boycotted it last year following allegations of colour and sexism. It has also faced a boycott from its broadcaster partner NBC and many other celebs.
