The deceased have been identified as Puttaraju, 42, and Keshav, 14, residents of Shantinagar in Doddaballapur town. According to the police, the father and son had gone to collect lotus flowers from the lake on Wednesday to sell them in the market. Actually, there is a lot of demand for lotus flowers for Friday's Varamahalakshmi festival.
Police say that the deceased father Puttaraju and son Keshav entered the lake without estimating the depth and drowned in the mud while plucking flowers. They had left their shoes and mobile at the lakeside, which was noticed by another flower seller and he contacted the family.
Though the police reached the spot, the bodies could not be pulled out of the water as it was dusk. The fire force and emergency services officials finally recovered both the bodies on Thursday morning. The Doddabelavangala police are probing the matter.
