An incentive of Rs 79 crore is expected to be distributed under PLI to white goods manufacturers in the last quarter of the current financial year. Some companies selected under the scheme have started production. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme on White Goods aims to encourage domestic manufacturing of air conditioners and LED light components.
A senior official has said that the target of disbursing incentives of Rs 11,000 crore to various sectors under the scheme during the current financial year may fall short. Out of 64 selected beneficiaries of the PLI scheme of the white goods segment, 15 have started production. This scheme is to be implemented over a period of seven years from 2021-22 to 2028-29 and the total outlay on it is Rs 6,238 crore.
Till March this year, incentives worth Rs 2,900 crore have been distributed under the PLI scheme of Rs 1.98 lakh crore. An additional incentive of Rs 1,000 crore has been given this year for companies engaged in electronics manufacturing.
