ODI World Cup 2019 winning captain for England, Eoin Morgan has predicted more runs from the host team's batting order on the third day of the second Test at Lord's. England had scored 25 runs for one wicket in seven overs by the end of the second day's play and now they have a huge lead of 256 runs before the start of the third day's play against Sri Lanka. The English team, especially after bowling out the visiting team for 196 runs, had kept a tight leash on this match.

Morgan said, "I saw an opportunity if it was morning or afternoon, the English batsmen could take advantage of the tired Sri Lankan attack. It is not easy to bowl after nearly 100 overs of hard work.

Morgan told Sky Sports Cricket ahead of the third day's play, "If anything said anything in this game, then it would have been the prospect of rain; it is a bit nippy, too, but I think when Joe Root is on the park and the middle is strong, Harry Brook can play to his full strength." The third day's play has commenced, and the Sri Lankan bowlers seem to struggle to make a comeback in this match.
