Donald Trump held responsible in sexual abuse case: Victim woman writer will have to pay Rs 41 crore

Former US President Donald Trump has been accused of sexually abusing magazine writer E Jean Carroll. According to the news agency AFP, Trump will have to pay 41 crore rupees ($ 5 million) as compensation to Carroll. The verdict was pronounced in the Federal Courtroom of New York.
A 9-member jury found Trump guilty of sexual assault and defamation of Carroll. However, the jury dismissed the rape charge against Trump.
Magazine writer Jean Carroll alleged in 2019 that Trump raped her in 1996 at a Manhattan department store. Trump denied these allegations outright. He said he did not know Carroll and had not met her at the store. He had said that Carroll was making up a false story to sell his book.
The trial, in this case, started on 25 April. Two women testified against Trump during the trial. People Magazine reporter Natasha Stoynoff told that Trump had forcibly kissed her in 2005. Another woman, Jessica Leeds, said Trump had kissed and groped her in 1979.
The jury also heard a 2005 recording of Trump. In this, Trump was talking about kissing and grabbing women without permission.
Two of Carroll's friends testified at the trial that Carroll had told them about the incident. However, for fear of Trump, he was asked not to tell this to anyone. Carroll was afraid that if she came forward, Trump would take revenge on her on the basis of his power and money.
Trump did not attend the civil trial against him. He was also not present at the time of the pronouncement of the verdict. This is a civil matter, so there is no danger of going to jail in front of Trump. In this case, the identity of the members of the jury has been kept secret. Trump later called the decision outrageous on his social media accounts, saying he did not know Carroll. He said that a campaign is being launched against him.
