Domestic passenger vehicle retail sales grew 4% in May, SIAM released data

SIAM: Passenger vehicle wholesales in India grew 4 percent to 3,47,492 units in May as compared to the same month last year. Industry body SIAM gave this information on Tuesday.

Domestic passenger vehicle retail sales grew 4% in May, SIAM released data

Passenger car wholesales in India increased by 4% to 3,47,492 units in May, compared to the same month previous year. SIAM, the industry body, provided this information on Tuesday. In May 2023, the total number of passenger vehicles (PV) dispatched from firms to dealers was 3,34,537.

"Passenger vehicles have witnessed only marginal growth, mainly due to the high base effect of last year," Vinod Aggarwal, President, of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), said in a statement.

Two-wheeler sales grew 10 percent last month to 16,20,084 units. Whereas in the same month a year ago it was 14,71,550 units. Dispatch of three-wheelers has increased by 15 percent. Which has increased to 55,763 units in May, while it was 48,610 units in May 2023.
