Approximately 1 crore 45 lakh people flew within the country in the month of March. DGCA provided this data by publishing official statistics on Saturday. Air passengers within the country increased by 8.79% compared to the corresponding period last year. A total of 1 crore 33 crore people flew last year, i.e., within March 2024.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in its monthly domestic passenger traffic report, "During March 2025, 145.42 lakh passengers traveled by the country's airlines. During the same period last year, 133.68 lakh passengers flew."

Last month, IndiGo provided transportation facilities to a total of 93.1 lakh passengers, with a market share of 64%. The Air India Group (through full-service provider Air India and low-cost company Air India Express) provided transportation facilities to 38.8 lakh passengers. Its market share was 26.7%.

Two other major airline companies, Akasa Air and SpiceJet, provided flight services to 7.2 lakh and 4.8 lakh passengers, respectively, in March 2025. Their market share was 5% and 3.3%, respectively.

In March 2025, IndiGo's aircraft were on time the most at 88.1%. Akasa Air was followed by an OTP (on-time performance) of 86.9%. Air India Group and SpiceJet scored 82% and 72.1%, respectively. OTP has been calculated for four metro airports - Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
