DGCA imposes Rs 20 lakh fine on AirAsia

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh on Air Asia. DGCA said that between 23 and 25 January, eight officials had inspected Air Asia. During the investigation, it was found that the pilots of AirAsia were not following certain mandatory instructions as they were not informed about these rules during the pilot proficiency test.
Eight investigators of Air Asia have also been fined Rs 3 lakh each for not performing their duty properly. Also suspended the training head of Air Asia for 3 months.
DGCA has issued show cause notices to the manager, training head of Air Asia and all the accountable officers asking why the mandatory drills were not done by the pilot. A written reply to the notice has been sought.
Earlier, DGCA had imposed a fine of Rs 70 lakh on Air Vistara. Air Vistara operated less than the minimum number of flights in the under-served region of Northeast India. The DGCA considered it a violation of the rules and imposed a fine.
At the same time, on January 9, GoFirst Airline was also fined 10 lakhs. Because the airline's flight left 55 passengers at Bengaluru airport and flew to Delhi. It was found in the investigation that this disturbance happened due to a problem in communication.
