DGCA, an aviation safety regulator, fined Tata group-owned airline Air India Rs 30 lakh for failure to comply with a norm and issuing a permit for a pilot to fly.

In an order issued on January 29, the DGCA said that repeated rostering issues were found in Air India. The fine was imposed after the response of Air India's operations chief and other officials, including the rostering chief, to the show cause notice sent on December 13, 2024, was unsatisfactory.

The DGCA said in its order, that the pilot needed some necessary flying experience before flying. But this pilot flew on July 7. He did not have experience with three take-offs and landings, thereby violating aviation rules.

The DGCA said in its order that Air India's rostering controllers ignored several false alerts that were appearing on the CAE window, as mentioned in the report submitted by Air India Limited. Following this, the DGCA, using powers under the Aviation Rules, 1937, ordered a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Air India.
