Kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Sharma, who was killed in a targeted killing in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated on Monday. Many leaders and locals including police officers attended his funeral. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also met the family of Sanjay Sharma. The terrorists shot ATM security personnel Sharma on Sunday when he was going with his wife to the market.
At the same time, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits protested in Jammu to protest against the murder. Kashmiri Pandits, who were working under the Prime Minister's package, reiterated their demand for transfer outside Kashmir. Activists of BJP, Shiv Sena, Dogra Front and Bajrang Dal demonstrated against target killing. PDP chief and former CM Mehbooba Mufti questioned who killed him if terrorism was over. Mehbooba Mufti said that we are embarrassed for the Bedardi with whom Sanjay Sharma was killed. The Muslims who once helped Kashmiri Pandits are in crisis today. The government is sending our people (Muslims) to jail in the name of reducing extremism. He said that NIA is conducting raids on the name of Ed Terror Funding. I appeal to the government to give a job to the wife of the deceased. He has 3 children and each should get Rs 5 lakh as compensation.
Demonstrator Yogesh Pandita said that the government's claim of a safe environment to return to duty has been exposed. Pandita said- We are fully aware of the ground reality. The latest murder has given a deep blow to our confidence and has further increased our concern about the safety of our community members in the valley.
On Sunday, a Kashmiri Pandit was shot dead by militants in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The injured were rushed to the hospital but died on the way. The terrorists attacked 40 -year -old Sanjay Sharma when he was going to the market with his wife at 10.30 am. Sanjay was a resident of the village suddenly and was posted as a security guard in the bank. This is the first target killing in the Kashmir Valley after October 2022.
