Delhi Capitals has removed head coach Ricky Ponting after a tenure of seven years. The reason behind this is believed to be his inability to win the IPL trophy for DC in seven years. However, the performance of the team has improved a lot. Now it is being speculated that Sourav Ganguly, currently the director of Delhi Capitals, can be given the additional responsibility of head coach in the upcoming season. The announcement of the removal of Ricky Ponting has been made by Delhi Capitals on the social media platform. Along with this, the franchise has also made an emotional post about the time spent with Ponting.

Delhi Capitals wrote in a post on their official X handle that as you are stepping down as our head coach, we find it incredibly difficult to put it into words. The four things you told us every time - care, commitment, attitude, and effort sum up the seven years you spent with us.

At the same time, it has been revealed that Ponting was clearly notified earlier that his performance did not meet management's expectations; despite being handed an unprecedented seven-year term, he was unable to provide the expected outcomes. Ponting, who captained Australia to two World Cup victories, joined the team in 2019. The team made its maiden final appearance in 2021, but its subsequent success has fallen short of its early potential.

The top executives of the Delhi Capitals have informed Ricky Ponting that they are dissatisfied with the team's failure to win a title in seven years and are attempting to restructure the support staff. He is not going to continue next year. Now, speculations are rife that DC will either appoint a new head coach or ask Ganguly to take up the role of head coach.
