Delay in accessing the links of these top news outlets on X.com, these big names are part of the list

Elon Musk and his famous social media platform, which is in constant discussion, have again come into the public eye. Social media company X delayed access to Reuters and New York Times websites as well as links to content on rivals such as BlueSky, Facebook, and Instagram, according to a media report on Tuesday. Let us tell you that this platform was earlier known as Twitter.

The report, citing tests conducted on Tuesday, revealed that clicking on a link on one of the affected websites X caused a delay of about five seconds in loading a webpage. Reuters also observed similar delays in tests it ran.

As of Tuesday afternoon, it appeared that X has removed the delay. When contacted, X confirmed that the delay has been removed, but did not elaborate.

Billionaire Elon Musk has previously lashed out at news organizations and journalists who have done critical reporting on his companies. This includes Tesla and SpaceX. Let us tell you that Twitter had earlier prevented users from posting links on the rival social media platform. However, Reuters could not find the exact time when X started delaying links to some websites.

A user on Hacker News, a technology platform, posted about the delay on Tuesday, writing that X began delaying the link to the New York Times on August 4. That day, Musk criticized and accused the publication of its coverage of South Africa.

A spokesperson for a news agency said it had not received any explanation from X regarding the delay in the link. The spokesperson said on Tuesday that although we do not know the reasoning behind the delay at this time, we would be concerned about targeted pressure being applied to any news organization for unexplained reasons.

A Reuters spokeswoman said: "We are aware of reports of delays in the Washington Post opening links to Reuters stories on X. We are looking into the matter. While Bluesky did not respond.
