The deadline for corporates to file their income tax returns for the assessment year 2024–2025 has been extended by the Income Tax Department by 15 days. The date has been extended until November 15. On Saturday (October 26), everyone came to know about this information. In a circular, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) stated that the October 31 deadline will be extended.
The extended due date for AY 2024-25, i.e., the filing of returns for the financial year 2023-24, is now November 15. According to Sandeep Jhunjhunwala, a Tax Partner with Nangia Andersen LLP, this extended time for submitting their returns will not be extended to the tax audit reports.
While the CBDT had extended the last date of filing of tax audit reports by seven days to October 7, it did so earlier in September.
