David Warner got a big shock, Australian Chief Selector dropped him from the Champions Trophy team

According to chief selector George Bailey, veteran left-handed opener David Warner is going to be ruled out of contention for the Champions Trophy 2025. Only a few days back, David Warner expressed a wish to play in the Champions Trophy; now coach Bailey has clarified that he would not pick him for it. David Warner had said he would call it a day with the Australian team after the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup, and his team lost out in the championship in the Super Eight. He, however, kept the option open for one last time to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

But Bailey has now confirmed Warner has completely retired from international cricket for Australia. He said his legacy as an all-format important player should be celebrated. Our understanding is that David has retired and he should be appreciated for his great career in all three formats. Our plan is that he will not be in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. I think he is just joking a little bit. His career has been great. We will now try some other players in different formats. It is going to be very exciting," Bailey said.

Bailey tabled lavish praise for Mitchell Marsh for the way he skippered Australia during last month's T20 World Cup. Despite a shocking team exit as they lost to both Afghanistan and India in the Super-8, he was still elated over its performance. I really liked his way of captaincy in the T20 World Cup. He was pretty clear about how he wanted to lead the team. He was quite disappointed because we couldn't reach the ultimate goal that everybody else expected, but still, if you see his success rate as a captain in T20, right at the start, it's been REALLY excellent," Bailey said.
