Cyclone alert: Deep pressure area will be active in the Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours
IMD: The Indian Navy mentioned preparations to deal with the cyclone. The Navy said that it is in touch with the state and civil administration in all the risk areas and is preparing to provide them with necessary support.
The Meteorological Department of India has said that the deep pressure area formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal is currently stationary 100 km north-northeast of Trincomalee. The Chennai center of IMD said that it is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours.
According to the latest bulletin of IMD, the deep pressure area will now move towards the east-northeast direction near the coastal area of Sri Lanka and will turn into a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours. It will pass between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram near the coast of Tamil Nadu-Puducherry on the morning of November 30. During this time, the speed of cyclonic winds can go from 50-60 km per hour to 70 km per hour.
Heavy rains are likely to occur in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, including Chennai, according to the Meteorological Department due to the effect of Cyclone Fingal. Because of this, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team visited the lowest places of Karaikal and TR Pattinam, where there is a maximum chance of danger. At the same time, they have also reviewed the security preparations regarding the risk arising out of it.
Meanwhile, the Indian Navy talked about the preparations concerning the cyclone. "The Navy said it is in touch with the state and civil administration in all the risk areas and is preparing to provide them with the necessary support, in which the vehicles are being filled with food, water, medicines, and other essential items. Besides this, flood relief teams have also been prepared to tackle the flood situation. At the same time, diving teams have also been kept ready for any kind of emergency rescue.
