CS's letter to the Union Finance Secretary to return the money of PFRDA

After implementing the Old Pension Scheme for all the state employees in the state, the state government is now struggling to return the PFRDA money. Chief Secretary Usha Sharma has recently written a letter to the Union Finance Secretary regarding this matter. It has been told that the state government has issued a notification to implement the old pension scheme for the employees after January 1, 2004. Now there is no justification for keeping money in PFRDA. Therefore, this money should be returned to the state government.
However, there has been no response from the Finance Ministry to this letter. In such a situation, there remains doubt about the return of Rs.39 thousand crores deposited by the employees in PFRDA. Earlier, the Finance Department had also written a letter to PFRDA to return the money deposited in the fund and the share of the employees.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in the budget for more than five and a half lakh employees of the state. After this, the Finance Department wrote a letter to PFRDA on 21 April, saying that the state government has implemented OPS for its employees coming under NPS since January 1, 2004, so the contribution made by the state government and employees in NPS. Yes, the government wants to withdraw it.
After this, on May 2, PFRDA wrote in a counter letter that - 'There is no provision in the PFRDA Act 2013 and PFRDA Regulation 2015 to return the deposited amount of state share and employee's share in the revenue receipt of the state government under the NPS scheme.'
