CRISIL Report: According to the report, the price of broilers has decreased by 5-7 per cent every month. Due to this, the cost of non-vegetarian thali has reduced more rapidly. Broilers account for 50 per cent of the cost of a non-vegetarian thali.
Due to falling prices of onion and tomato, the common man's plates have become cheaper by 5 per cent in December 2023. According to the 'Rice Roti Rate' report released on Monday by Crisil Market Intelligence and Analytics Research, the cost of homemade vegetarian thali decreased by 3 per cent last month. The price of non-vegetarian thali has declined by 5 percent. According to the report, after the festive season, the prices of vegetables used in home kitchen have decreased. Every month, onion prices declined by 14 per cent in December, while tomato prices declined by 3 per cent.
According to the report, the price of broilers has decreased by 5-7 per cent every month. Due to this, the cost of non-vegetarian thali has reduced more rapidly. Broilers account for 50 per cent of the cost of a non-vegetarian thali.
The average cost of preparing a thali is calculated based on the prices of thali in North, South, East and West India. This shows that the price of thali changes depending on the prices of grains, pulses, broilers, vegetables, spices, edible oil and cooking gas.
According to the report, the price of vegetarian thali has increased by 12 per cent on an annual basis. However, the cost of non-vegetarian thali has declined by four per cent. The reason for vegetarian thali becoming expensive is the increase in prices of onion and tomato by 82 per cent and 42 per cent respectively. Pulses, which constitute 9 per cent of the vegetarian thali, are also costlier by 24 per cent compared to a year ago. On the contrary, broiler prices have declined by 15 per cent on an annual basis, making non-vegetarian dishes cheaper.
