Crime in Pakistan: Terror of robbers in Karachi, taxi driver shot dead for opposing looting
Some robbers killed a taxi driver in Karachi. On Saturday, when Mumtaz was ferrying some passengers from the International Airport to New Karachi, some robbers stopped the vehicle near Bilal Colony Police Station and decided to carry out the robbery. According to the police, Mumtaz was a resident of Nathia Gali and lived alone in Green Town.
A taxi driver, Mumtaz was shot dead in Karachi, Pakistan. On Saturday, when Mumtaz was taking some passengers from Jinnah International Airport to New Karachi, some robbers stopped the vehicle near Bilal Colony Police Station and decided to carry out the robbery.
When Mumtaz protested against the robbery, the robbers shot him, due to which he died on the spot.
According to the police, Mumtaz was a resident of Nathia Gali and lived alone in Green Town. The family members said that Mumtaz's brother Riyaz was also killed by the robbers eight years ago, reports ARY News.
Earlier, in August, a youth, Ibrahim, was killed by unidentified robbers near Karachi's Northern Bypass when he resisted a robbery. Motorcycle-borne armed robbers stopped Ibrahim and tried to rob him. The robbers killed Ibrahim for opposing the robbery.
Since the ceasefire between the Government of Pakistan and the banned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (TTP) ended in November last year, there has been an increase in terrorist activities in Pakistan. Terrorist incidents have increased especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
Information was revealed through a report released in July that there is a continuous increase in suicide attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan-based Dawn newspaper, citing a think tank report, reported that 18 suicide attacks took place in Pakistan in the first seven months of 2023, in which 200 people lost their lives and more than 450 others were injured.
