The important decision of the High Court in the divorce case: The court said - If the wife eats gutkha and meat, and drinks alcohol, then it is harassment
The Bilaspur High Court of Chhattisgarh has given an important decision in a case related to divorce. The High Court has said that if the wife eats pan masala, gutkha is like men. If she harasses her husband by eating meat with alcohol, then it is cruelty. A bench of Justices Gautam Bhaduri and Radhakishan Aggarwal has declared the husband entitled to seek divorce on these grounds.
In fact, a youth from Bankimongra in Korba district was married to a girl from Katghora in May 2015. After seven days of marriage, the wife was lying unconscious in bed. When the husband took her for treatment, it was found that she was addicted to non-veg and gutkha along with drinking alcohol. The relatives explained a lot to him about this.
Despite this, she did not agree and the wife started misbehaving with her in-laws. Because of this the husband got fed up and decided to divorce and approached the court. In the petition filed on behalf of the youth, it was told that the woman used to spit anywhere in the bedroom after consuming gutkha. Used to fight on refusal. The woman also attempted suicide by setting herself ablaze on December 30, 2015.
It was told in the petition that the wife also attempted suicide twice by jumping from the terrace and then twice by drinking insecticide. Troubled by this, the husband filed a divorce petition in the Family Court, which was rejected by the court saying that it was his privacy. Thereafter, the husband challenged the decision of the Family Court in the High Court.
