Initial investigation has revealed that the deceased Yagnik had left the lodge with a bag. He had bought a container of helium gas from the Peenya area and brought it to his hotel room. Later he committed suicide by inhaling helium gas. After death, Yagnik's body was taken to St. John's Hospital for postmortem.

A 24-year-old software professional working with an IT company in Bengaluru inhaled helium gas at a hotel and committed suicide on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Yagnik, a resident of Sakleshpur in Hassan district. The incident occurred in Neeladri Nagar, Electronics City. According to the police, Yagnik visited the hotel on August 16 inhaled helium gas used in balloons, and gave up his life.

Yagnik is employed with a good company and, for various reasons, wants to work out of his house for a few months. He was here to write his MTech exams and had reserved a hotel room in his name. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Yagnik checked out of the lodge along with a bag. From the Peenya area, he had bought a bottle of helium gas and shifted to his hotel room, a rented one. It seems he took helium gas with him and committed suicide.

After his death, Yagnik's body was taken to St John's Hospital for postmortem. DCP (South East) Sara Fatima said that the hotel staff found the software professional dead inside his room. When he did not come out of his room till 12 noon, they opened the door.

She said that the reason behind the suicide is being investigated. The youth inhaled the gas through a pipe. Police suspect that the step was taken due to a love affair. However, she said that the real reason would be known only after recording the statements of family members, friends, and colleagues.
